Mourinho rejects PSG Twice
Paris – Jose Mourinho in the past had twice had the opportunity to occupy the seat coach of Paris Saint-Germain. But, both times Mourinho refused to offer him the chance.
Mourinho’s first chance came in 2011 when the man from Portugal was still coach Real Madrid. Mourinho refused an offer from PSG and chose to remain coached Los Merengues.
Two years later, PSG back to persuade Mourinho who had left Madrid. However, Mourinho rejected again and prefer to go back into the Chelsea manager.
“I know very well the project PSG. I know because when they started this project with its owner, the president of the club, and Leonardo, I was asked to be his coach,” said Mourinho was quoted by The Telegraph.
“I met with them in Qatar, so I knew the project. The project is to begin to dominate in France, began to dominate in Europe,” said Mourinho.
“Dominance in France has been established. They are the champions, champions, and champions again. They qualified for the final of the French League Cup, qualifying for the quarter-finals of the French Cup, they left behind two points behind league leaders Ligue 1. Thus, the dominance in France has been reached,” he added.
“They also want to dominate in Europe. In the Champions League the past two seasons, Paris was eliminated in the quarterfinals after losing to Barcelona and last season of Chelsea in the final minutes. So, they know and they are already there. They’ve been up there . Paris is a great team with great ambitions, “said Mourinho.
Mourinho then explained the reason why he rejected the offers from PSG.
“Because at that time I was at Real Madrid and my ambition is to become champions in Spain, England, and Italy,” said Mourinho.
“It is a big challenge for me and a big challenge to compete directly against the best team, Barcelona, probably the best team in Europe over the past decade. It was not the right moment for me to go,” he said.
Mourinho will lead Chelsea when his team was against PSG in the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday (02/18/2015) pm dawn.
